Swapping Spanners for Ice Creams on EODay

Posted Friday 4th July 2014

Our employees downed tools today but only for the time it took to enjoy an ice cream!

Lindum employees, the majority of whom own shares in the company, were treated to an ice cream to celebrate 4th July being National Employee Ownership Day; an annual event organised by EOA (Employee Ownership Association) to promote the benefits of employee ownership.

Lindum, formed in 1956, became an employee owned company in 1994 and is a member of the EOA, along with over 400 other organisations including national companies such as The John Lewis Partnership and Unipart Group.

MD of Lindum Construction and Main Board Director Simon Gregory said “Lindum is proud to be a member of the Employee Ownership Association and one of the very few construction companies to be owned by its employees. Being an employee owned business for the past 20 years has certainly contributed greatly to our company’s continuing success with a dedicated workforce who take extra pride and care in their work because they have a share in the company and its future.

As shareholders we all enjoy a number of benefits and today this includes complimentary ice cream!”

Employee Ownership Day was created by the Employee Ownership Association in 2013 and is supported by business, an array of trade and industry groups and across the political spectrum to highlight and celebrate the significant benefits employee ownership delivers to the UK economy.
